From the desk of the Worthy President:  Dave McKinney

We have come through a very hard time for our Aerie.  A tornado came through and although we did not sustain the damage that other businesses or homes suffered, we did have damage.  For awhile we had to shut down our East Room and it made things a little difficult, but the roof has been fixed and I am sor very thankful for those who have supported us through this time.  Because of the sacrifices that we have made, the roof has now fixed!

Hopefully, with Spring coming, the weather will settle down.  As we look to Spring, we need to begin to think about all that we want to do while we can get outside and enjoy the weather!.  Anyone with any ideas on how we can bring our Aerie together and bring in new membership, please contact myself, or a Trustee.  They are ALWAYS looking for new things to try.

THE DIABETIC RESEARCH CENTER

The University of Iowa, home of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center was the receipient of our fourth installment of five.  The Fraternal Order of Eagles has made a committment to help make the dream a reality of creating a Research Center to work towards a solution to Diabetes.

The CDC states, that 18.8 million people have been diagnosed and another 7.0 million are undiagnosed with Diabetes, which is an alarming rate.  There are 26.9% of people over 65 years of age who have been diagnosed with Diabetes.  As Eagle members, we owe it to those we love and to ourselves to donate what we can to make this vision a reality!  If you want to help with this endeavor, please contact the office and see where you can help get involved in raising funds for the Diabetes Research Center we are proud to attach our name to!

NEW SMOKING ROOM

Beginning October 2, 2013 the State Excise approved our request for a separate SMOKING ROOM.  We can NOW allow children under 18 to be in the dining room with their families.  We are a family oriented facility and this was a great resolution to our issue.  So, those with children, please come back and bring those children WITH you!  Our goal has always been to make this law WORK for all of us!
